ASH ROY & CALM CHOR (Ex- Jalebee Cartel )

ASH ROY: 2004 saw a return to India with moving to Delhi to start the next leg of his journey. He reconnected with two old friends and fellow musicians Arjun Vagale & Ashvin Mani Sharma and together, they formed Jalebee Cartel, India’s answer to raw, real underground. Since its inception, Roy has been providing all vocal and percussive elements during their memorable live performances and has also steadily been creating music to add to the Cartel’s cache of original productions.
As a producer and a DJ, Ash’s style moves through genres that range from tech-house to techno and his individual tracks has been supported by Kasey Taylor, Maetrik, Ambivalent & more. Ash and his band mates have been basing themselves out of Europe every summer, to have equal footing in both sides of the globe with their gigs – an annual appearance at the Fusion Festival in Germany, for instance. With Jalebee Cartel he has shared headliner space with the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Modeselektor and Carl Cox, played with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Sasha, Cari Lekebusch, Fergie, Nic Fanciulli, Ambivalent and Kasey Taylor individually and appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone, India. And it only keeps getting better and better every year.After a massive 2-month Europe tour and playing at some of the biggest clubs in the world including Goethebunker, Elektrollebelle, SO36, Dienstagwelt, Sisyphos apart from massive world-class festivals such as Fusion Festival & Freqs of Nature by Fullmoon Festival, Ash Roy is back in the motherland to present a sound that will keep you bouncing and yearning for more !

Ashvin aka CALM CHOR: Ashvin’s intention is to make music a tool for emptying the mind with unpredictable and unusual sounds, and then fill the open space with the beauty of surrender through dance… A state of mind that takes you away from the safe space of the self to a consciousness where the tribe becomes aware of its existence. To reaffirm that we are a bunch of freaks who listen to bizarre, crazy music that just somehow moves our soul to action…

Calm chor is Indian and so is his music. It’s dramatic and emotional like every Indian is at heart.
Calm Chor is the Alter ego of Ashvin Mani Sharma who has been a part of the Indian underground music scene since 1995. He has been producing music and deejaying since 1998, and is one of the co-founders of Jalebee Cartel, a live electronic music act that has put India on the international EDM map delivering power-packed performances from Paradiso in Amsterdam to Blue Frog in Mumbai. He also makes music under the name of Crash & Boom which is a Psy-Trance Project with Ash Roy and has also partnered with him on Soup Herb Records , a new label for groovy dance music .
