15 years of Bhavishyavani Presents: EDEN Festival featuring: Mike Shannon, Phon.o, Masta Justy at Blue Frog, Mumbai

Any historian who takes it upon themselves to pen the tale of Canadian electronic in the years to come will most certainly find the name Mike Shannon figures early and often in it’s telling.

From his humble beginnings in the sleepy suburban town of Kitchener Ontario, the last 15 years have seen him become an internationally lauded producer with albums on 3 of the industry’s most respected labels (Plus 8, Force Inc, ~Scape), as well as a steady stream of consistently charted singles and remixes.

A true “DJ’s DJ”, he has won legions of fans and the respect of his peers alike for his deep crates and lightning fast mixing skills.

Phon.o.
The boy with the dot in his name and the dubby background, started to play records with his buddy Apparat in the early 90s far in the darkest reaches of the ruff’n’tuff Harz mountains, in former East Germany. This little country bumpkin practiced diligently every night by candlelight at his aunt’s farm. 1994, Phon.o cites the hay in the barn, the dirt in the fields and the sheep calling him from beyond the hills as strong early influences of his deep and dirty style.

In these times he got his first turntables and used every free hour to practise in his hidden secret cottage. 1997, seeking new and bright horizons, our boy moves to beautiful Berlin and is given the keys to his first apartment: a dingy shoebox which even the Russians had left unoccupied during their stint in Berlin.

During the wet autumn of 1998 he started to create his own “music” and emerged in the spring of 2000 with his first release, on Cytrax (Kit Clayton and Dj Jasper’s itchy, noisy, dubby Californian techno label). The gringos take a liking to their newly-found bro and like the productive little worker that he is.

Masta Justy
Jatin Vidyarthi A.K.A DJ Masta Justy studied audio engineering at S.A.E, Sydney and worked as an audio engineer with Western Outdoors, Bombay. He then worked as A & R Manager at Music Today, Delhi and then at BMG, Bombay. During this time he started to DJ cutting edge electronic music at night and also started to produce his own tracks becoming a full time DJ/producer.

His style includes dynamic sets of fresh and crisp House, Techno, Electro, Breaks, Dub-Step, and Drum N Bass. He has performed live at several major night spots in Bombay, Delhi, Madras and Bangalore. He has DJd live at Delhi Delights, Vienna, Austria + live DJ set on FM 4 Radio, Vienna. Justy has performed live at Basswerk, Colonge, Germany and at The Festival Of India, Lille3000, France. He was recently invited to the Berlin Film Festival as a DJ/producer.
