BLOT!
BLOT! are india’s foremost underground electronic music and mixed media live act. In the six years since BLOT! first emerged, they have delivered an inspiring run of music releases, immersive audiovisual sets as well as innumerable art installations and performance properties in India and abroad.

BLOT! aka Gaurav Malaker and Avinash Kumar, are on the cusp of pushing through into a whole new realm. With their debut Snafu, signed to Universal Music India (2013) the duo made a stylistic leap forward, expanding their sonic vocabulary far beyond their previous incarnation as a minimal tech act into something unique and idiosyncratic.

The New Delhi based multidisciplinary duo have traversed the globe, gigging and exploring urban culture through music, films, art, installations and projects, including co-founding their own pioneering, interdisciplinary festival UnBox (annually since 2011) and underground electronica label – Qilla Records.

On the international front, they have performed at legendary venues like Tresor and Bar25 (Berlin), global festivals ? Pop (Cologne), Electron Festival (Geneva), Berlin Music Week, Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg) and Nuits Sonores in Lyon, and at London’s South Bank Centre. Closer to home, they play upwards of 100 gigs a year, while also consistently collaborating with a host of musicians and singers. In addition, BLOT! has re-imagined the electronic music agendas of brands such as Absolut, Puma, Adidas Originals and Superdry, and they are supported by Allen Heath.

Voted No. 3 Indian Electronic DJ by the DJ MAG INDIA Industry poll 2012 and recently nominated for ‘Best Indie Artist for the inaugural MTV VMAI 2013, Kohra is the deep, hypnotic and often grungy mirror image of Madhav Shorey. Raw analog signals and lush soundscapes mixed with percussion sounds and sharp glitches is what can be heard through his mysterious productions. A style that is intelligent enough to mesmerise, yet simple enough to move you.

Constantly paving the way for a new sub-culture of underground dance music is no task for the timid, which is why he has already become the first Indian to have hit the top 10 charts on global industry standards such as Beatport. As a producer his music has been signed to many well respected International record labels including Mexa Records, Black Swan Recordings, Sounds Of Earth and Sui Generiz to name a few.

His Live set comprises his own productions performed in a deconstructive format with a constantly evolving component of granular synthesis, vocal sampling, various percussion and effect units. As a DJ, his sets are extremely captivating and reflect a distinct progressive, organic and streamlined approach to techno. He maintains that not only through his high standards of track selection but also with the release schedule of his own quality imprint of Qilla Records.

Kohra has performed at some of the best festivals in India, Dubai, Italy and Australia and has opened for the likes of Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Marco Bailey, Kaiserdisco, Matador, Christian Smith among others. The fact that he has been officially endorsed by leading brands such as Allen&Heath and Puma is only further authentication of his work.
