Bass Takeover with Bay Beat Collective (BBC) at Indigo Live Music Bar, Bangalore

The Mumbai-based BBC (Bay Beat Collective) comprising of Kris Correya and Sohail Arora was formed in late 2008 in response to the abundance of standard-issue electronica so often churned out in clubs and bars across the country. Influenced by bass music artists across the board, BBC explores new aural territory, dabbling in styles ranging from drum n bass to dubstep, with a partiality to “phat” basslines and high voltage grooves that are infectious, delicious & supremely funky.

BBC have toured with some of the biggest international names in the electronic and bass music circuit including artists like The Prodigy, LTJ Bukem, Alix Perez, Koan Sound, Klute, Dub Phizix, Nymfo, Concord Dawn, DJ Marky, Jazzsteppa, Asian Dub Foundation, Ant TC1, Brother Culture, Dub FX & Pendulum, Markus Visionary (USA), Snooks & Reds. The collective has played extensively in the International festival circuit including Jungle Flash Festival (Slovenia) & Outlook Festival (Croatia) which is Europe’s largest bass music and sound system culture festival. BBC was the first ever Indian artist to take on the stage at this festival. BBC have also played regularly at some of the biggest Indian festivals including Sunburn Festival (Goa), Bacardi NH7 Weekender (Pune), Invasion Festival (Bangalore), Ragasthan Festival & many more.

In addition to this, BBC’s extensive tours of Asia & Europe in 2010 , 2012 & 2013 through UK, Germany, Croatia, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Hong Kong & Singapore have put them on the world map. BBC have injected fun into a scene, which was mutating into an increasingly austere and po-faced arena. Their DJ sets continually re-affirm the potency of dancing the night away in a sweaty club, surrounded by completely like-minded strangers.

After being introduced to underground electronic music @ the age of 18 he began his DJ carrier in 2010, playing electronic and dance music that maximises every beat of every track to create the unique sound. His precision mixing is part of the show, as each track mixes in you can deeply feel the dance-floor going up a notch to keep up with the frantic and energetic mood. He has played alongside with some of the notable artists & @ the best clubs in bangalore.

Gautham’s musical style reflects his eclectic influences—from high-modernist integral surrealism to raw electro, jazz-funk fusion to 80s rock & roll, indian claasical & more—all distilled down to pure, crystalline style. His music s never limited. so he likes exploring for some fresh sounds in a various geners like Electro, Psy Breaks(Tech Funk), Dub Reggae, Chill Step, DubStep, Glitch Hop, Swing Hop, Drum N Bass, Psychedelic & more.

He is quite experimental with sounds and always would want to introduce some twisted & wicked sounds of some new styles of music for the audience.
