A simple concept of paying an Ode to the father of the Blues Robert Johnson on his birth centenary turned into a music festival in 2011. Now in its fourth year,An Ode To The Blues, is Bangalore premier blues music festival that aims to spread the blues as a music form and pay tribute to its past, present and future.
A week long extravaganza – the festival kick starts on the 18 April with Blues Around Town, a festival within the festival, which will witness the city in its prime form, reverberating to Blue tunes with daily events, performances, blues concerts and busking sessions across town.
A great way of introducing Blues to the masses, Blues Around Town brings together over 15 artistes, including popular names like Blues Conscience, Sylvester Trio, By2Blues, Velvet Mojo, Khalid Kashif and more, who will be performing and singing the blues at popular venues like Church Street, Opus, Monkey Bar, Humming Tree and BFlat, before finishing off with the grand finale at CounterCulture on 26th April.
