Swig heads into the groovy space this Wednesday with a bunch of brilliant musicians coming together in the form of ‘Brahma Naad’ expressing some Indian sounds. The evening will also feature Pune’s most experienced guitar player – Chris Fonseca!


Formed in early 2011, Brahma Naad comprises of experienced musicians who’ve blended in perfectly well to find a unique sound that reflects the diverse musical inspiration present in the band. The confluence is a mélange of different styles and textures that range from classical prepositions to contemporary impositions with everything groovy in between.

Brahma Naad plays the undying spirit of ragas blended with harmonies of the tempered world, fused with the simplicity and complexity of time signatures.

Brahma Naad performs as a quartet with a collective of guest musicians that join them from time to time. Their performances are dominated by improvised performances of original tunes and renditions of other compositions.

Abhishek Borkar (Sarod):

Son and disciple of Pt. Shekhar Borkar, Abhishek is a fine musician who takes the role of the melody-man in Brahma Naad. Abhishek is a recipient of the CCRT scholarship and is currently pursuing his Masters in Music.

Keshav Iyengar (Guitar/Bass):

Keshav is an accomplished bass player who also fancies playing guitar, he provides the much needed glue that binds Brahma Naad together. He has been a part of several projects, including Coke Studio at MTV and Satyameva Jayate.

Abhishek Debsikdar (Drums):

An alumnus of the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, the rock solid foundation of Brahma Naad manifests itself in Abhishek. Having played for years in Pune, he is a hard hitting and intricate drummer.

Vinay Ramadasan (Vocals):

Vinay is a very skillful singer, with an enchanting voice. He has been trained under Pt. Ramesh Narayan. Along with being an All India Radio artist, he has also received many music and theatre awards, including one from the king of Travancore.

Chris Fonseca (Guitar):

Chris is one of the most experienced guitar players in Pune, having played for many bands and outfits over the years. Along with being a session player for acts like The Gary Lawyer Band and Colonial Cousins, his band Strange Brew has two albums to its name. Chris also runs a guitar school and many of his students have become accomplished guitar players.
