Gary Lawyer really needs no introduction! Often called the ‘man with the golden voice’, he is regarded as the finest Indian artiste in the field of western popular music. A bass baritone, who sings just as easily in the tenor range, Gary is equally comfortable with every genre of music – be it rock, pop, jazz, country or folk.
With his varied musical influences and classically trained voice, Gary began his singing career in New York during his stay there in the 80’s, singing at showcase theatres and nightclubs to a tremendous response. Just as he started gaining recognition as a singer / composer, personal circumstances forced him to return to India.
Back home Gary was quickly absorbed into the performing / recording industry and was a hit with the advertising world, with his voice gracing hundreds of commercials. Being voted ‘Best Singer’ and also making his mark as a Composer and arranger with a string of highly successful TV commercials and albums the ‘Bajaj Sunny’ commercial, for which Gary wrote the lyrics and the soundtrack, won ‘The New York Festivals Finalists Award’ .
On his return to India, Gary staged concerts which were ‘sell outs’, and was later involved in a powerful musical called ‘Are You Lonesome Tonight’, where Gary played the part of young Presley to incredible rave reviews. Since then Gary has performed concerts all over India and abroad to packed houses. Sent by the Government of India to the Festival of Russia to represent India in the pop / rock category, Gary has to his credit Five albums, including a song on a compilation album along with the likes of Kenny Rogers, Gordon Lightfoot and Don Williams, etc.
