Groove Gully is a multifarious mix of talented young musicians from Mumbai formed in November of 2012. The band comprises Zian Alphonso on vocals, Tizaan Alphonso on keys & vocals, Farrokh Shroff on lead guitar, Joshua Dias on bass and Enoch Dias on drums & percussions.
As a band they like changing up covers and making it their own; jazzing it up and adding a lil funk to it. They also like exploring different styles of music, using various influences/genres and creating original compositions with a twist.
Their major influences are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon 5, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Jamiroquai, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Adele, Walk off the Earth, The Dave Weckl Band, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Al Jarreau, Rachael Ferrell, etc
They have won 2nd place at Mood Indigo, IIT on 23rd December, 2012 at the inter college fest competing with 41 bands from all over the country. They will be releasing their album soon called “Take a Chance”, 9 super packed originals of which 2 have already been released and won the CBS PRIME IDOL accolades.
Zian has won 1st in the contest and is India’s 1st BIG CBS PRIME IDOL Jan, WINNER! for her original song ‘Outta My Mind’ and Tizaan, has won runners-up for the same contest for his original ‘Take a Chance’. Zian was also featured on BIG CBS LOVE channel showcasing the American Idol theme song Superstar.
They have performed at various venues like Blue Frog, Out of the Blue, The Little Door, 3 Wise Monkeys etc.
