About Indian Blue: Indo Jazz/World fusion

Four generations of Sarodiyas – with a young talent of the present generation, Shiraz Ali Khan is making a sincere attempt to carry on the lineage of the prestigious Maihar Gharana. With a towering background, as the great grandson of legendary Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan, grandson of Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and son of Late Dhyanesh Khan and nephew of Ustad Aashish Khan, Shiraz is firmly rooted in his tradition as a sarode player, to make his way, break boundaries and carve a niche for himself, as an artiste to reckon with.

As a teenager, he started experimenting with introducing other musical influences to the classical compositions he was trained to play, which resulted in the birth of a fusion band, Indian Blue, in 2002. Being the lead player for his band gives him the freedom to orchestrate compositions that create several new sounds. He is instrumental in taking his band beyond the comforts of their home city, Kolkata.┬áIndian Blue performs at The BFlat Bar every year, since it’s inception.
