Jamsteady every Friday at Princeton Club
We kick off October with the only legit reggae/funk outfit from Calcutta. It’s dem reggae boys coming from Cali-cal once again. This time around they’ll be playing as RIDDIM FUNKTION COLLECTIVE with an extended line-up of captivating musicians. Though the Riddim Funktion sound is based around reggae,ska and funk, serious listeners will hear elements of indian raaga and folk forms in their sound.
The band started out as a 3-man group primarily playing instrumental music before Gunzooloo Baba Rit joined them on vocals & guitars and tight-rolling drummer Avijit on drums & percussion. Currently, original drummer Sounak is out of the country on the quest for even higher education and Rit Baba is in Mumbai in a studio by the sea. Or maybe in a sea of studios.
So for this gig, we have Rit’s baba, Pradip ‘Bula’ Chatterjee, one of the founding members of iconic pioneer bangla rock band Mohiner Ghoraguli on board. Hania, the soul-slinging, not-a-single-beat-missing vocalist from their first Jamsteady show is back on our stage after a long gap!
This one promises to be a slow and steady burner…don’t miss it guys, gals and those somewhere in the middle.
Expect a lot of head-nodding, swaying and dancing:-)
