Laxmi Bomb From the land of salt-pans and straight into the city, comes a local sound that provides the perfect foil as the nation’s background. Meet ‘Laxmi Bomb’, a newly formed electro-pop outfit from ‘Bombay’, because that’s where the music comes from.
The theme is reflective of those times and represented through a young woman’s imagery. A traveller of the many landscapes in a city called ‘H?’, the title of the debut EP. It meanders through the ‘happy-hustle-bustle’ and ‘eerie calm’ in equal capacity. With classic Hindi cinema motifs and pop-disco beats thrown in with candid measure.
And ‘H?’ has already been weaved into the fabric of the city. Having featured in various pockets that include ‘The Scene at Blue Frog’, MTV India, the ‘House of Vans edition at Sitara Studio & D’Bell’. Not to mention festivals like ‘Ragasthan’, ‘Sony Music Conference’ in Kerala and ‘Ziro Festival of music’ 2014.
As for national television, a music video for the song ‘Major Major’ has been aired on 9XO as the ‘artist of the month’ with an exclusive interview appearing on Viacom’s CNBC TV-18 too.
On another frequency, the music has been a regular feature on the radio show ‘Indie Thursday hosted by RJ Teejay Sidhu for Radio One 94.3 and Radio City.
Laxmi has also received her fair share of free press with leading publications such as Rolling Stones India, The Indian Express, Times of India, Bombay Times, Mid-Day, HT Café, NH7 amongst others bringing her story to the forefront. Laxmi is unique and comfortable in her own identity. As the review in the ‘Mid-Day’ would put it, “a breath of fresh air in a city with its fair share of imitators”.

Unohu Formed in March 2012, Unohu is a three-piece alternative rock band based in Mumbai. The band initially began with brothers, Sarthak Karkare (Vocals and guitar) and Shashwat Karkare (Drums), jamming in their room. The third member, Yohann Coutinho (Bass), joined the duo after meeting Sarthak Karake in college. One of their memorable gigs recently was at the crowdfunded annual gig series Control Alt Delete in Mumbai in October last year. The band hasn’t released an EP as of yet, mainly working on singles such as “Parachute,” which they released in May 2013. Their single “Caught Between A Rock And Your Face” featured on Stupiditties 666: Satan Lives! released by indie label ennui.BOMB. Their influences include the likes of prog rock bands Porcupine Tree and Karnivool and alt rockers Incubus.
