One World College of Music and Strings of the World present a Lecture Demonstration on Scottish & Indian Classical Music with Nigel Richard. This interactive workshop would touch upon subjects like compositions, song construction and the comparison between Scottish and Indian Classical Music.

Nigel Richard trained in musical instrument repair at Stevenson College from 1985 to 1987, and started making bagpipes in 1987. He served on the committee of the Lowland and Border Pipers’ Society for many years and retired a few years ago after being Chairman for three years.

He is also a musician (Main instrument cittern) and outside his interest in Scottish traditional music he has been studying Indian classical music for fourteen years. However his interests have always lead him off the beaten path, from early days playing with musicians in Morocco, through being a member of innovative Scottish band “Bag o’ Cats” , to his work and study with Indian Classical musicians which started in 1996. He is also a founder member of the band India Alba – the Indian Classical/Scottish traditional fusion band India Alba in 2000, which are still going strong and continuing to develop the links between the two musical cultures.
