Maarten Visser studied music at the Brabants Conservatorium in Netherlands.During his studies he composed and played his own material with various bands (Trinome,Moir,Dudes Doo Dance).After finishing his western studies,he went to Chennai and studied Carnatic music.He played in bands such as MadraZ and Funky Bodhi,while working as a session-musician for the film-music industry.He conducts workshop and organises weekly concerts of experimental music in Holland.Since 2006 Maarten Visser spends most of his time in Chennai.His recent work,saxophone solos will be released soon.

Area Unknown is a four piece jazz rock funk blues fusion band. Blending in the harmonies of jazz with funky grooves and the power of rock these guys have an unique sound. Comprising of keyboards, guitar, bass and drums, some of their influences are Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Billy Cobham, George Benson, BB King etc
