501 Friday is back at The Humming Tree, Bangalore! This time The Ganesh Talkies take over the stage for a night of alt-rock, reggae, ska and pop peppered with Bollywood influences, which segues into gypsy jazz and cabaret by the boys of pcrc.
Named one of the ‘Top Artistes to Watch Out For’ in 2013 by Rolling Stone India, The Ganesh Talkies is the dance music cousin of Bollywood via Indian indie. The Talkies blends alt-rock, reggae, ska and pop in a funky, twisted brew peppered with influences culled from cinema. The result is Bollywood’s quirk, coolth and extreme kitsch meeting a dance-heavy ethos in the band’s sound and live vibe. Like a movie plot, GT songs tell stories; stories that unfold collectively to make the whole picture.

Peter Cat Recording Co. is a four-piece gypsy jazz/cabaret band formed in 2009, from San Francisco/New Delhi. Started as the solo project of Suryakant Sawhney, the new lineup of the band went on to play numerous college festivals in 2010. They also played the finals of NLS Strawberry Fields, and released their debut album Sinema in January 2011. In 2012 they put out their second album Wall Of Want.
