Rub A Dub Dub with Troja + Orbs & Zen at The Daily, Mumbai

Rub A Dub Dub is giving young, fresh talent a chance to strut their stuff alongside some of Mumbai’s most popular DJs, with the hope to give the newcomers the experience and confidence to go on to much bigger things.

Troja : Troja is the electronic project of Trideep Roy, conceptualized by travel and exposure to the wide range of Dance Music across Europe. It began from the infamous Minimood parties in St Andrews and the Chocolate Box which then spread across Scotland. These inspired him to delve deeper into the depths of house music and techno and spread them on returning to India. With initial parties under the name “The Itchy Feet Project”, he gained further experience in understanding varied dancefloors, which translated into shows across the country in Calcutta, Bombay and Goa.

With Troja, Trideep works with a mixed bag of sounds and emotions, ranging from funk, tech and deep grooves layered with elements of jazz and soul, to even more laid back tunes.

Orbs & Zen : Orbs & Zen like to play around in mushroom houses, Auntie’s playgrounds, grooveboxes and discos. After getting back to the bay around Sept 2013, they started off playing bi-weekly at a then freshly opened neighbourhood bar – The Daily and were soon noticed by the Regenerate crew, eventually leading to opening slots for – Nils Hoffmann, TigerSkin, Daniel Steinberg, Purple Disco Machine, HNQO, Juliet Sikora – amongst other gigs.

Musically speaking, they love the deep. And the groovy. Rather than stick to a genre, they trust what sounds good to their ears – so you might hear some indie dance/tech/disco/ or deep jazzy shiz at one of their gigs. Venues they have played at so far include – The Daily, Sitara Studios, The White Owl, Nico Bombay, Cocoparra (Pune), Dome Intercontinental, Terra, Auriga, Tilt All Day & Bungalow 9.
