Rolling Stones India released a list in 2008 entitled The top Indian 10 albums of 2008. At number 5 rested a conspicuous name. Conspicuous because it was the only independent release on the list. Then came a list from Rock Street Journal. And the same name was there too. Only this time, on #2.
Say hello to Scribe – Indias torchbearer for hardcore. When their particular brand of irreverent extreme music landed them the Winners title at Independence Rock 2007 their insatiable hunger for composing, playing and releasing music started taking prominence.
Shortly after their 2006 EP Have Hard. Will Core, Scribe released their first full-length album called Confect. following it up with an intensive tour making all sorts of squiggly lines upon the Map of India, and in the process, winning fans outside the map as well !
After having planted their flags across the map with tours spanning Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Shillong, Guwahati, Pune and also playing at the prestigious INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2010 in Norway, Oslo, Indias most adamant DIY band launched their second album Mark Of Teja at SummerStorm 2010 which featured metalcore veterans, LAMB OF GOD.
Mark of Teja won the Best Metal Album at the first ever Rolling Stone Metal Awards alongwith winning the Best Metal Band, Best Metal Song (DemonPra) and Best Metal Vocalist (Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy) also winning a bag full of awards at Jack Daniel Rock Awards for Best Metal Band, Album Of The Year, Best Metal Bassist (Srinivaas Sunderajan) and Song Of The Year (1234 Dracula).
Scribe are slated to release their highly awaited third album Hail Mogambo for which they were featured on the cover of Rolling Stone India magazine in the June 13 issue.
