Purvi first became a disciple of Ustad Fayyaz Ahmed Khan and Ustad Niaz Ahmed Khan. Purvi is a gandh-band disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan and took training from him for many years. She has also recorded albums published by HMV and Navras Records London both in the classical and light classical genres.
