Time Capsule is CounterCultures annual trip down memory lane, paying tribute to the
legends that have inspired generations of musicians. Homegrown bands, musical
collectives & famous DJs honour their musical inspirations through reinterpreted sets
every Saturday in August.
Bob Marley needs no introduction, he was undoubtedly the most influential Jamaican musician of all time. His popularity was widespread, and continues to be so, 30 years after his death. Amongst his many achievements, Marley also has a species of Caribbean crustaceans Gnathia marleyi named after him!
Bombay Bassment is an eclectic mix of artists whose sound is defined by their roots. The
outcome is an upbeat blend of Hip-Hop, Rap, Reggae, Funk & Drum n Bass. Drawn f rom
different cultural and hence musical backgrounds, the band pulls off a sound that cuts
through every soul. Bombay Bassment are Bobkat (Bob Omulo), a veteran MC and DJ
oLevin (Levin Mendes) , Ruell (Ruell Barretto) are Chandu (Chandrashekar Kunder).
