Whirling Kalapas is an acoustic-based trio created by Mahesh Tinaikar and Uday Benegal (from the rock band Indus Creed) and multi-instrumentalist Sankarshan Kini. The trio’s music can be described variously as neo-folk, alt-country, mellow – and often funky – acoustic rock. The band’s vocally and instrumentally lush sound has been garnering much praise from audiences across the country.

At their performance in 2012 headlining Lou Majaw’s renowned Bob Dylan birthday celebrations in Shillong; as well as concerts at clubs like BFlat (Bangalore) and blueFROG (Bombay) featuring renowned guests like Ranjit Barot, Zubin Balaporia and the fresh new act Spud in the Box; and festivals such as the Barn Festival (Goa) and Sulafest 2013 (Nasik).
