Scribe has come a long, long way since the release of their first EP Have Hard. Will Core in 2006, Scribe is a Modern metal/Hardcore band from Mumbai, India that has with time become synonymous with aural insanity. With 2 full length releases in their arsenal since, Scribe welcomes you what they call music -a crispy, fun mix of golden fried riffs, hard-mashed basslines, medium-rare drums, lo-fat synths and a guy screaming his ass off. A perfect blend of what their fans like to call Scribecore.
They’ve headlined numerous stages and played at every major festival in India including Independence Rock,NH7 Weekender, Great Indian Rock with the likes of Meshuggah, Textures, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Mutemath, Skindred, Satyricon, Freak Kitchen and more. They even went on to play the prestigious and extremely scary Inferno extreme metal festival in Oslo, Norway alongside Vomitory. Their shows include audience members scampering on stage, all-girl moshpits (a personal favourite), inflatable pool crowd surfing, poetry recitals, skits, court room dramatisations (I swear!) and other fun-filled shenanigans.
In 2010, the band released a video for the song Dum hai toh aage aah from their second album Mark of Teja (2010); which went on to get nominated at the MTV Video Music Awards 2011 held at Belfast, Ireland. The album also helped them score 6 awards at the Rolling Stone Metal awards and to become the first Indian metal band to pose (fully clothed) for a Rolling stone cover shoot.
And now, Scribe has released their highly anticipated third album Hail Mogambo in September of 2014 – mixed by Keshav Dhar (Skyharbor) and mastered by Swedish producer and all-round magician – Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with Opeth, Soilwork and The Devin Townsend Project. With Hail Mogambo, Scribe aims to unleash more sonic ferocity than ever before.
By now you know that Scribe is goofy, heavy, hairy and love destroying things. And seriously, how many bands have genre named after them?
Bhayanak Maut was formed in 2003, the band has performed at the biggest, most prestigious festivals in the country, be it the infamous GIR (Great Indian Rock), NH7 Weekenders, Independence Rock, Deccan Rock, to name a few. Apart from performing at every notable festival in the country the band has performed at every venue and college festival that has welcomed metal music as a genre.
In 2011 they were invited to perform at one of the biggest Metal Festivals hosted in the world – Inferno Music Festival, (Norway) where they were given the opportunity to share a stage with bands like Textures, Meshuggah, Amon Amarth, and the likes.
The band has released 4 albums so far and enjoy nothing more than performing their material live.
Nothing can better describe the beautifully melodic yet punishingly heavy concoction that isNoiseware. Combining intricacy, technicality and groove with a visual experience unlike ever seen before, Noiseware is the vanguard of a new, young and thriving Indian Metal Landscape, constantly seeking to push the boundaries of possibility.
Formed in mid 2009, barely a show old, the band released their first single, G-String, which made rounds atop the Soundclick international metal charts. But the first real taste of success came just three months in, when the band beat some of the top rock and metal acts of the country at Mood Indigo Livewire Festival 2009, to support progressive giants, Porcupine Tree.
Early 2010 saw a change in line up as the band welcomed Aman Virdi of Vyzasa fame on vocals, whose mastery of the art gave a new dimension to the blend: the inculcation of clean vocals. The year, though, proved to be the most eventful at the very end, as Noiseware played at the Great Indian Rock Festival 2010, becoming the only Indian band to support all three headliners: premier modern metal titans Meshuggah (Sweden), along with Tesseract (UK) and Enslaved (Norway); putting the band into the spotlight in the Indian Metal Scene.
In June 2011, Noiseware released their debut EP, Wake up and Soar at the Rolling Stone Metal Awards 2011 Ceremony. The first gesture of appreciation came on the very same night, as they won the award for Song Of The Year 2011 (Critics Choice) for 23. More acclaim came the bands way when the EP was rated at the 5th best EP of 2011 by Indiecision, and the Best Metal EP of 2011 by Indianrockmp3. In October 2011, The band broke into the international realm, as Need For Sleep appeared in UKs highest selling metal magazine – Metal Hammers Global Metal Vol 3 Compilation.
2014 ushers in the next era for Noiseware, with the band hard at work on the full length follow up to the successfull debut EP, due for release in early 2015. The album promises to be what the EP was and more, as the band tap into uncharted sonic soundscapes, while keeping their feet firmly rooted into the what made them who they are.
