SPIC MACAY and Doordarshan have come together to host a national level competition in the form of a Reality Show that is looking for the next Classical Maestro. This National Competition of classical music will be broadcast all across the DD network, including DD National & DD Bharati.

With great maestros of Indian classical music such as Shiv Kumar Sharma, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Amjad Ali Khan, TN Krishnan, R Vedavalli, TV Sankaranarayanan, Vikky Vinayakram and Parween Sultana as judges along with the host of the show Shabana Azmi, SPICMACAY and Doordarshan are in search of the next Classical maestro for the following categories:

Carnatic:

Smt. MS Subbulakshmi Yuva Puraskar (Vocal)

Vidwan Sheikh Chinna Moulana Yuva Puraskar (Instrumental)

Vidwan Palghat Maini Iter Puraskar (Accompanist)

Hindustani:

Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Yuva Puraskar (Vocal)

Pt. Ravi Shankar Yuva Puraskar (Instrumental)

Ustad Alla Rakha Yuva Puraskar (Accompanist)

First Prize: Rs. 10 lakhs in both categories, 10 SPIC MACAY Programs, 1 CD release

The aim of this TV show is to inspire the youth to follow the great traditions of Indian classical music and encourage and reward the best practitioners amongst them. SPIC MACAY is providing this platform to promote and popularise Indian classical music. Great gurus and living legends of Indian classical music will judge the contestants. Participation from all over the country will be encouraged through regional rounds of competition with Semi-finals to be held at Kolkata and Chennai. It will culminate with the grand finale round that will be held at Mumbai.
