“Its a dream come true. I feel like Ive attained something unachievable! That was Ricky Kejs response to topping the billboard charts for New Age music with his album Winds of Samsara in collaboration with Wouter Kellerman. Kej made history being the first Indian artist to top the Billboard charts.
The album features 14 tracks with Kej and Kellerman composing the tracks and working with their respective influences to add that unique touch to each track. On breaking into the US music scene, Kej says he tried his best not to stick to just Indian audiences but tried something that would appeal to tastes of the typical American audience. The album reeks of talent with over 120 of the best musicians belonging to 5 continents doing what they do best. One such musician is Prakash Sontakke.
Prakash Sontakke needs no introduction. He co-composed two tracks on the album, Mahatma and Eyes of wonder and according to Kej, is deeply integrated to the album. Kej considers him his guru for Hindustani Classical music and loves his drama free work mantra. To him (Sontakke), its only about the music! he gushes. Sontakke, on the other hand calls Kej one of the best music directors in India. Hes very open to new ideas and never says something wont work. With him, its more of Well make it happen. he said. Topping the chart is very special and Im very lucky to be a part of this project. The whole world is watching India and its a great feeling. Sontakke said.
