KumailKumail Hamid is a 21 year old music producer, who for four years now has been experimenting with music of genres ranging from rap to dubstep, which has led to his current work in what can only be classified under the ambiguous label of “electronic music”. His music boldly pushes the level of experimentation of the current “scene” beyond its club friendly confines, exploring the more ethereal regions of sound. Heavily manipulated live recordings coupled with atmospheric synths and meticulously panned rhythm sections form the fundamental characteristics of his tracks. These sonic qualities are moulded together in a variety of structures, a result of his eclectic set of influences. Orbs & Zen

Orbs & Zen like to play around in mushroom houses, Auntie’s playgrounds, grooveboxes and discos…they’re out to play music we like, music you like and to have a big pot of fun doing it.

One of them spent half a year in the Andamans and always thought it would be a great place to have a party – cue to a friends wedding, spiffily acquired software, a few trial runs, a generator, mini-boombox and a gorgeous beach – Orbs & Zen were birthed over a seven hour (only slightly intoxicated) set from 3am to 10am.

After getting back to the bay, they started off playing at their main boy Dishant’s then freshly opened neighbourhood bar – the Daily and were soon noticed by the Regenerate crew leading to opening slots for – Nils Hoffmann, Daniel Steinberg, Purple Disco Machine & Tigerskin.

Venues they’ve played at so far include – the Daily (of course), Sitara Studios, the White Owl, Nico Bombay, Cocoparra (Pune), Dome Intercontinental, Terra, & Bungalow9.

Who’s Orbs & who’s Zen is a question they get asked a lot – A wave is a particle is a wave, atomically speaking. But basically they’re both orbs and they’re both zen. Regarding the idea behind it, Orbs are free-flowing, but mysterious bundles of energy. They like the general idea of being energy beings, sharing that with people through the music we play. And it’s the whole dual nature thing, Orbs as energy and Zen as a meditativeness. But they can both mix in the form of dance.

Musically speaking, they love the deep. And the groovy. And a bit of disco. Just a whole lot of fun generally. Rather than stick to a genre, they trust what sounds good to their ears – so you might hear some indie dance, dub or eclectic jazzy shizz at one of their gigs .

THE SLEEPWALKER

Since his first public gig in 2006, Sleepwalker has become one of the upcoming talents of alternative dance music in India. Despite his earlier partiality towards quality headphone music, he has expanded his territory onto dancefloors as well. His sets revolve around hybrid forms of Minimal Techno, Progressive, Breaks & Nu Disco.

After a few early residencies, gigs in the country’s finest clubs and stellar sets at festivals like GO:MADras, Shanti Jatra (Nepal), Springzouk & India Surf Festival, the Sleepwalker is recognized for his arsenal of futuristic sounds & his experimental approach towards dancefloors.

He has shared the stage with international acts like Tom Hades, Tim Xavier, Jim Rivers, Manuel de la Mare, Darren Emerson, Sam Paganini, Kid Creme, Juno Reactor, The Scratch Bandits, Anil Chawla, Hilight Tribe, Kliment, Electrypnose and the list keeps getting bigger with every season..

Shantanu’s curiosity towards sound has been the main factor nurturing his research on strong sensations & human response to music. Kaleekarma

Kaleekarma showed her inclination towards music since her childhood where she’d make individual mix tapes for her friends & music lovers for several occasions. She began a career in the high fashion industry after her B.E. credit. While she was modelling & continuing with her further studies; to serve the passion & curiosity for music in her, she started learning about music production & djing on her own. She has appeared in numerous publications as a DJ and Model.

Her obsession with music led her to the underground music scenes. The energy of all the people who lived the music and felt it made her realize that she could infuse her passion into music and deliver emotional experiences to people. She is inspirational in her approach to deliver unforgettable dance experiences where all are touched and moved to feel the music. Indian instruments, Tribal & Organic sounds inspire her in particular to understand and experiment with music more and more.
