After it’s successful launch in 2013, SubraMania has firmly established itself on the world music scene, building on the multi-generational musical tradition that it takes forward, but with a sound that is distinctly it’s own.
Formed by the children of Maestro Dr. L. Subramaniam, siblings singer/songwriter Bindu Subramaniam (“third generation prodigy” – The Hindustan Times) and violinist/composer Ambi Subramaniam (“the new king of Indian classical violin”- Times of India), SubraMania fuse traditional Indian music with elements of pop, rock and jazz, to create contemporary world music. In addition to creating their own material in English and traditional Indian languages, SubraMania works with well-known classics and jazz standards to interpret them in a completely new light. The accompanying band are among the cream of live sessions musicians from Chennai and Bangalore.
Both Bindu and Ambi are established solo performers in their own right, with awards, hundreds of stage performances and multiple albums to their credit. They decided to create SubraMania, to create a new voice for contemporary world music.
In the short period since it’s been formed, SubraMania has already performed in seven countries across Europe and toured in India, including collaborations with contemporary and Bollywood producers and performed at several global music festivals
The performing artistes:
Ambi Subramaniam: Ambi’s greatest musical inspiration remains his father and guru, Dr. L. Subramaniam, with whom he tours the world, giving solo and duet performances. Accolades and praise sit lightly on his shoulders, who at a very early age has a number of major accomplishments under his belt.
“… Ambi is equipped with the jaw-dropping technique – and expressiveness – that will undoubtedly see him follow the footsteps of his illustrious father” _ The Age, Melbourne
Bindu Subramaniam: Haunting and Hypnotic are the two words most commonly used to describe Bindu Subramaniams voice. Having been dubbed an assured young soprano by the press, Bindu, who is a singer/songwriter has created a very original sound fusing soft rock and jazz elements with traditional Indian music. Her training in Indian and western styles of music have given her a unique sound.
They will be accompanied by:

Bharath Kumar – Keyboards
Prakash KN – Bass
