Their music can be described as Indian melodies sitting on funk grooves with overtones of electronica, and sung in Indian languages. This combination of elements makes for a very interesting new sound. Each musician in the band brings a wealth of experience to this new project, having been part of some of the most successful bands from India.

Skrat:
In the later part of the year 2006 this bunch of high school graduates decided that they would form a band and make some music to aid their would be dreary engineering college lives. 6 days later they play their first show at the Unwind center. In an environment of predominantly metal music, this original-rock act got the crowd and went on to play over a 100 gigs, and counting. This includes most of the major cities in South India, Mumbai and an independent festival in Reading, England.

JHANU (Tamil Rock) / Early Set By Almost at BFlat, Bangalore

Share
JHANU is a Tamil rock band, the first of its kind to have successfully blended the energy of modern rock with the aesthetics of poetic Tamil; the combination of which has resulted in their numerous live performances in South India over the past two years. Jhanu has gone on to enthral crowds of over thousands and headline several shows at major fests, along with leading acts such as Avial and Skrat.

Echoing freedom of expression, Jhanu’s music – all original compositions – retain a unique individuality where each song has its own story to tell. They have not only managed to capture the minds of ardent rock fans and metal-heads, but have also got lovers of softer genres grooving.

Originally formed as a two member band by brothers Jhanu Chanthar and Udhay Bharath , they are currently working on their debut album titled “Acham Illai” (meaning: fearless), which happens to be the first ever Tamil rock album, and is slated to release by end of the year.

Since releasing their first single and music video “Prachanai” online in July 2013, Jhanu has gone on to released two more successful singles. Their growing popularity was amplified through the popular Kappa TV live music show, Music Mojo, where they performed six songs; the videos of which have been released on YouTube.

ALMOST is a Bangalore based two-member malayalam experimental-electronic band. All songs by Rajaram Rajendran (Producer – Electronics) and Jyolsna Panicker (Carnatic vocalist). Our first album, ‘Afraid’ is out soon.
